Quick post. I’ve been doing some experimenting with cookie recipes and wanted to post some photos. I am discovering some strange feelings accompanying my baking endeavours. Given my interest in and history with health and health promotion, I don’t feel quite ethical in pushing sugar and the wrong kinds of fats on people. I am really on the fence with regard to grains as well. One thing I’ve been telling myself is that baking is not about health, it is about pleasure. I’ll likely wrestle with these issues for a while as I decide on the role I wish baking to play in my life.

Anyhow, a few photos.

Chocolate Fudge CookiesAbout to go into the oven, some pure evil chocolate fudge cookies. After baking, they retained a light crispy surface, with a subsequent sinking of the teeth into the fudge-like consistency of the centre. Decadence at its best.Chocolate Fudge Cookie
Today’s attempt was at a hybrid chocolate chip cookie. I blended two “best chocolate chip cookie in the world” recipes (thanks to Mr. Chance for pointing out one of them ;) ) with a secret ingredient of my own, and came up with what you see here.

Chocolate Chip CookiesThey turned out really well – very chewy on the inside, with a perfect skin – but I really have to test them out on someone else. My body is not enjoying the sugar, and I think I maxed out the other day on the chocolate fudge ones.Chocolate Chip Cookie

Let’s just say, I’m looking for victims…
